Here is a deal on a Chromebook for $200 plus lifetime T-mobile 4G service included. I still stand by my ChromeOS comments but this is a good deal for basic computing needs.

I ended up getting a dell inspiron, wal-mart had a sale on them, it's windows 8 though, spent all day yesterday messing with the hard drive and can't get it to read anything
on a side note, is there any way to hook up a wirelesss router to a wired router? That way it doesn't happen again

I don't love the user interface of Windows 8, but performance-wise, it really is a decent OS. If the lack of a start menu bothers you too much, you can always install Classic Shell (http://www.classicshell.net/). Now that the university I work for is switching machines over to Win8, I have installed Classic Shell for a number of people; it cuts down on the weeping and gnashing of teeth.
As for hooking up a wireless router to a wired router; it can be done with a little work. Someone on Tom's Hardware has a little write up on how to do it; looks easy enough. http://www.tomshardw.....router
