saw something in the sky tonight and managed to get a pic of it before it took off. Has anyone seen one of these before?

also, a little off topic, but I wonder if someone could help me identify this grasshopper - looking thing I found in my garden. Someone told me it was the notorious pacmanhopper, but i'm not sure.
