I have to wonder if the lunatic shooters had something else in common, besides being mental.
I wonder if they played shooting style video games.
Games where you run around shooting as many people as you can. Blood everywhere.
I don't play those types of games and have always thought that they would desensitize the players.
Just thinking out loud again.
personally, I am tired of the blame game, I am tired about hearing guns are a issue, I am tired about hearing society doesn't haven't enough god in the world, I am tired about hearing how daddy didn't show me enough love, I am tired of hearing heavy metal is the devil, I am tired of hearing video games are the blame
you can't fix crazy, I tried once and came out on the wrong side of it
just my opinion

it may get tiresome, but it doesn't erase the fact that it could be a factor.
Many of the shooters were on meds that have been linked to increased thoughts of suicide.
I do have a shooting game. It's a hunting game. We shoot Deer and other wild animals in the game. After playing an hour or 2 and then going to bed, I'm still thinking about Deer jumping out and blasting them. So I understand the lasting effects of video games on the brain. Can you imagine the effects on a brain that is unbalanced and on meds that might cause violent behavior?
Is it the sole reason the people do what they do? Doubtful. But it could be a piece to the puzzle.

I doubt removing that piece of the puzzle would change the final picture. Mass shootings have remained a pretty constant rate for years now. Much longer than the existence of first person shooter type games. Much longer than the ssri's that can cause increased thoughts of suicide in teens. The only constant is mental deficiency, Like KVR said, "You can't fix crazy." I don't know what the answer to that equation is, do I want to institutionalize everyone that has ever had an emotional breakdown? No. I would like to see the funding that has been taken away from programs for the mentally unstable returned to them, they are truly in need.
