I've grown very tired of how dark these things are. I don't think I'm alone in this either. While I couldn't find it to share here, I had read an article about CW's Arrow and Flash. It said the hints that Arrow would be no more were influenced by the stellar ratings of Flash vs the crummy ratings of Arrow. The article suggested that the darker series Arrow would turn a new leaf to rebirth the character as a lighter Green Arrow. I can't say if the article was speculation or truth, but the ratings difference does speak volumes. I hope Hollywood wakes up and takes the hint. I'm not saying everything they make should be shiny and happy, but it also shouldn't all be dark and nihilistic.

I'm not sure if I'm right on this but wasn't Suicide squad a dark 'ish' comic? Kinda like The Dark Night? Just a comic series for us "Adult" kids, lol

No idea. Never read it. It probably was.
I wasn't so much making a statement about Suicide Squad, as it was just a reaction that's been on the tip of my tongue and came out after watching the trailer. That said, the Harley Quinn character's origins are from Batman: The Animated Series. That was Gothic in it's artistic style, but not so dark in its writing. While characters get re-purposed and re-imagined, they got it right with Harley v1.0, she became a fan favorite and made her way into the larger DC universe as a result. Seems like they keep butchering her character till there isn't much Arlene Sorkin (Harley's original voice and inspiration) left. And I hate that blue and red costume. I thought the red, white and black was perfect from the get go.
