Well, I found this pic on reddit, and one of the people who commented intrigued me, so I sent him a pm about doing a podcast, any questions for someone that grew up in Syria and still has family there, post your questions here, trying to line it up for wed. What I know so far from pming him

I have a lot of family there but I left and have no intention of ever returning

I would be willing to answer some questions about my experiences there (i was born and raised there till around 2nd grade, and went back for 8th, 10th and 11th grade)

did some background search before I reached out to him, this is one of his comments on the pic above that was my reason for contacting him

I left like two years ago to come finish my education here in the states. My opinion is biased because I'm part of the Christian minority and I've seen/heard of the things done to Christians because of their religion by some of the Al-Qaeda backed groups over the past few years. As to who I want to win, I think at this point it's evident who lost (the Syrian people) and the difference between the winners of this civil war won't be too great. The most you can hope for is a regime that's secular and democratic but I doubt that would happen. As to how it was before the protests broke out, that's a complicated question. I would say the biggest problem faced by Syrians was the corruption of the government and the obscene amount of wealth held by the ruling class. 75% of the Syrian population made less than $200 (USD) a month and that doesn't cover a decent standard of living in Syria while government funded projects were costing twice or three times the estimated amount due to theft of the funds. I remember that a family friend offered to get us the signature of the minster of defense on a blank piece of paper for like $2000.

looking forward to this

as a side note Jed's podcast will be live in a hour
