We really didn't have a ruling regarding it.  Our head instructor had a post on the UG about our school using "catch and release" and when I was getting shit over it, I quoted him and one of the purples I injured (yeah, there was more than one) said "What part of catch and release involves injuring people?"

In retrospect, I was relying on leglocks because I sucked and couldn't pass the guard.  Maybe part of it was the higher belts weren't "letting me work" either.  And worse part was I really feel like I was going easy.  I don't think I was spazzing, or trying to hurt anyone

I'm sure I've seen it (or parts of it).  I LOVE Roy Harris.  Have you ever read his old internet posts about training in the old days with Rickson, Rorian and those guys?  Epic stuff.

Before the holidays, I found this on the net, and thought there was some value in it.  Warning, if you dislike Ryron and Rener, you'll want to avoid this. lol
