that seems a little overzealous
HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Believe it or not, the US Marshals Service in Houston is arresting people for not paying their outstanding federal student loans.
Paul Aker says he was arrested at his home last week for a $1500 federal student loan he received in 1987.
He says seven deputy US Marshals showed up at his home with guns and took him to federal court where he had to sign a payment plan for the 29-year-old school loan.
Congressman Gene Green says the federal government is now using private debt collectors to go after those who owe student loans.
Green says as a result, those attorneys and debt collectors are getting judgements in federal court and asking judges to use the US Marshals Service to arrest those who have failed to pay their federal student loans.

Sounds over the top...I am sure there are a lot of people that are way behind on student loan debt. I know a few that have just given up and their credit rating is roached out and they are being served papers about garnishing wages.
I know that student loans are a huge issue for many people and is a big campaign topic this year. I had them and I paid them off early (I also didn't buy a new car, go on vacation or live beyond my means). My thought is that you took the money, you pay it back. Many people say they didn't know what they were getting into...okay, I can believe that...IMO that doesn't mean you shouldn't repay what you took...paying back a loan is pretty basic and if they were in college I think it's reasonable to expect them to get that basic concept. I gotta admit, if people get some kind of loan forgiveness, well that would frost me and other's that paid back our loans and never got a thing for it. I know, life is rarely fair. Just seems like most folks are looking to get something for nothing and at the same time not be on the hook for anything.
One point, people are 18 or older when they sign for these loans...if they really don't understand what they are doing in mass numbers then maybe they shouldn't be driving a car or voting...time to draw the line somewhere???
Heck, I think even Obama paid his student loans back.
