Anyone else hear about this?? Definitely very strange. I can't imagine why they would close 5 stores for 6 months.

(btw you need a Tinfoil Hat Forum)
Honestly though, plumbing could be an issue due to the following scenario.
I wonder if all the stores were built around the same time.
Usually large corporations use the same contractors over and over. When I worked at a national restaurant chain we had one contractor who did all the new stores in New England. They don't go in and hire the local guys sitting at home depot. They want people that have experience constructing the buildings, it keeps cost lower, minimizes over runs and is done in a timely fashion. We basically had a list of approved contractors through our facilities department.
If the contractor wal-mart was using was the same for all and he was cutting corners, that could explain why all of them have plumbing issues.
But I think it's unions.

But an article I was reading had some good arguments as to why it's NOT plumbing.
- First, and entire store can be built in less than a year. To close for 6 mos for plumbing seems unheard of.
- Walmart goes to great lengths to minimize downtime. They would build alternative plumbing systems, switch over, etc to avoid closing for a day, let alone 6 months
- If they did close, they would do everything give employees to reduce the length of the closure, such as lining up contracts, pulling permits and so on Because of that, they would have time to give their employees more than 5 hours notice.
