Went to South America to look at wood and try my luck piranha fishing. Well bass fishing but you will catch them anyways.
As one does in a foreign country, first thing you do is buy a chicken or two.
It is a dry hot hot day, better find a good seat made by local masters.
Enough resting time to look at some wood. Sun is starting to call it a day.
One of my favorite woods. Purple Heart.
Time for some sleep, going to try fishing tomorrow. Where are those chickens?
Next day, one dug-out, made from local wood. One guide, windy day, lake full of piranha what could go wrong?
After we got out of the inlet the lake was just really choppy. Winds always pick up during the dry season down South.
So the fish were given a reprieve from the fisherman (undoubtedly lacking in skill) who spent 52 hours (stopovers) on 3 planes to go fishing. The outdoors person acquitted with jungle life knew though "never get out of the boat in crocodile and piranha infested water". That maybe with the bigger waves outside of the inlet fishing might not be the wisest decision.
Time to get out of the boat and have some chicken Creole style.
I captured a picture of the guides relief when told, I was calling the trip due to conditions.
Back home after 48 hours and 5 planes. Hot showers, bed without springs sticking into me and back living in the library that is North American life for me.
Next wander is the end of the month. Guns, jungle, heat, humid, maybe some nice wood and fly fishing.
