Columbia House that is, I ordered so many times from them, I was stoked when I got my dokken and scorpions cassette tapes, my parents never did question me where all those cassettes came from

I always thought there would be a knock on the door, who the heck sends a 12 year old cassettes anyways? And how are they still in business?

For the record bvr68 had the purple rain album and wore eye liner, true story

Lol, I was always paranoid about it. My friends would order tape after tape and then cancel and order again under another name left and right. I still have no idea how it was a successful business model.

Holy crap, just checked their wiki, they didn't stop it till 2009! How is that possible!

The Columbia House brand was introduced in the early 1970s by the Columbia Records division of CBS, Inc. as an umbrella for its mail-order music clubs, the primary incarnation of which was the Columbia Record Club, established in 1955. It had a significant market presence in the 1980s and early 1990s. In 2005, longtime competitor BMG Direct Marketing, Inc. (formerly the RCA Music Service or RCA Record Club) purchased Columbia House and consolidated operations. In 2008, the company (as well as book club operator Bookspan) was acquired by private investment group Najafi Companies, and its name was changed to Direct Brands, Inc. Although Direct Brands shut down music mail-order operations in mid-2009, it continued to use the Columbia House brand to market videos in the U.S. & Canada, selling DVDs and Blu-ray Discs via the controversial practice of negative option billing. DB Media's Canadian assets ceased operating on December 9, 2010, and all staff were dismissed,[1] while U.S. operations continue as usual.

You guys were a regular syndicate huh? I always hated that they would only have 4 tapes I wanted and the rest was all junk to fill the order, but that is where my love of wham grew
