what kind of degree do you need these days for that Jon?
LOL To be honest, degrees are overrated in this field. As long as you know what you are doing, any 4 year degree will can land you a job in IT. The majority of people I work with have degrees in fields other than Computer Science/Information Systems (currently, I work with a bunch of English, Communications, & Marketing grads). You can learn most things you need to know to start in IT by reading the right forums on reddit or brushing up at places like Codeacademy.com & Udemy.com
I always encourage younger folks that I know, and tell them that they should learn to code early on. There are a lot of good jobs out there and kids can avoid college debt all together if they play their cards right and get good at programming. My degrees didn't help me; I have a healthcare management undergrad degree that I got fresh out of high school, and I am finishing the Masters in Pol Sci just because my employer pays for it and it is a personal interest of mine.
Long story short? You don't need one. 🙂
