I have a friend that does keto and he has lost a ton of weight doing it and it hasn't impacted his cholesterol at all, but listening to him, it sounds like repackaged atkins

I think they're both basically the same. The biggest issue I have with that type of diet is that it's just that, a diet. It's something you have to do for the rest of your life. And personally, I can't go the rest of my life w/o carbs. Also, its extremely strict and can lead to yo-yo weight gain when you repeatedly fail. If you're looking for weight loss, you'll be much more successful in the long run following the strategies Dr. John Berardi. http://gritandglimme.....m-berardi/ That's more of a lifestyle, and it's adaptable to your lifestyle and allows wiggle room. And you have to exercise 5 days a week. Preferably cardio, with a heart rate monitor and keep your HR in the weight loss zone.

i'm into Berardi's stuff also. He had a nice book called "grappler's guide to sports nutrition". I started with that and got into other of his stuff.

The cookbook are nice too, i like the protein bars recipes

Yeah, I have the Grappler's Guide and Cookbook somewhere (on some random HD). I've used his approach in the past with great results. Went from 245ish to 217. Size 42 down to about a size 34/36. Unfortunately, I fell back into old bad habits and let myself go. :(
