I'm about to have a drug talk with my 10yo as he heads off to Middle School. My wife feels like he already knows "drugs are bad, mmmmkay?", but some Public Service announcement is in the back of my head. Something to the effect, "how will they know if you don't tell them?". I just want to make sure he understands just how bad drugs are, and how it's a very slippery slope.
we started having discussions like that with our daughter when she was 8, she seems to have dodged them through school but sadly some of her friends have not, she is well aware of her friends that got hooked on them and has seen the changes and devastation it has brought to the families

I'm at work and my wife is at home so we're just messaging back and forth. I guess it's going to depend on how my SD handles it. If she's forthcoming, and this is just teenage curiosity, probably just limit contact with who she got it from and limit her time away from home without us for a while. If she's less than forthcoming and this is the beginnings of rebelliousness, heaven help her. I've been talking the wife down all morning. She wants to nuke from orbit.
Unfortunately for my SD, her parents are paramedics with finely tuned bullshit detectors.
Both of our families have histories of alcohol and drug addiction, so this hits close to home.
