this might take the cake for wasteful lawsuits
An Arkansas mother has sued her son's high school for cutting her son from the school's varsity basketball team, claiming that he was deprived the right of a full education because he was not allowed to take part in school athletics.

Hopefully, her case gets absolutely destroyed if it ever makes it to trial. Sad thing is, it wouldn't surprise me if the school system settles the lawsuit. While I agree that it is crappy that he was replaced on the team after football players tried out, I just don't see how she can claim he was deprived an education because of it.
