Anyone else find it amusing that the DNC is holding the debates on weekends against major sporting events, caught just a few minutes of it last night, god clinton is such a phony. Bernie released his plan for paying for universal health care.

Let's see, I pay almost 10,000 a year in health insurance, 4500 deductible per person, 13,500 max out of pocket, I would gladly pay several thousand in higher taxes to make that go away.

Yeah that's a pretty beefy bill. Unlike most of my libertarian friends, I'm actually down for a lot of social programs that would make sense. Problem is, I don't trust the government to run them. Their track record isn't exactly stellar at getting things right or being efficient. My main concern with Sanders spending plan including the medical portion, is that I don't think the numbers have been run properly. Additionally, the way he has proposed to create this new revenue to fund the medical thing is going to put a serious hit on pensions and retirement accounts. overall, when you get right down to it, he's talking about adding an additional 2 trillion to our current spending of about 2.5 trillion per year, without any significant spending cuts. Since about the 40's, revenue has been right around 15% of GDP, with only minor fluctuations. our current GDP is in the ballpark of 16.5 trillion, that leaves us with about 2 trillion and change in revenue. Revenue we already outspend every year. Sanders wants to increase spending by something like 30% on the conservative end of the estimate, with no real clear way of paying for it, and without really reducing spending in any significant way. How exactly then, does he propose to nearly double the GDP of the US, since he's not going to raise taxes on the middle class?
Answer: He can't. You WILL see an increase in taxes, and it's not going to be a little one either. I'm no economist but don't be surprised if he gets elected, and gets his spending plan passed, that you see an income tax of 50% or more.
