My 14 yo daughter has set her mind to becoming a Master Falconer. She has been interested in it for several years. She says she needs to become an apprentice first. Any falconers near Louisville, KY (our farm is in Charlestown, IN) or Evansville, IN who may want to work with a respectable and responsible (certainly NOT a typical teen)? Or can you lead us in a direction? Thanks!

What a great goal! She does not sound like a typical teen at all!

Has she been in contact with the Indiana Falconers Association?

Nice, would love to hear how you like it, whenever I hear falconry it reminds of my favorite book as a kid, My Side Of The Mountain.

Now I want to go live in tree again!

lol

This past fall we went to the local Renaissance Festival.  Saw a demo about Falcons and really fell in love with the idea of it (for about 5 minutes).  Then the realization of the expense and time requirements brought me back to reality.  Not to mention that I really don't have anyplace I can hunt, etc.  It was really interesting though.

It was my first time, and it was REALLY cool.  It was actually a middle school field trip.  My son loved it so much that he drug me back a few weeks later.  It's definitely a money pit.
