Im going to get a license for the fall hunt here. Ive hunted turkey as a kid, but that was many years ago.

Any tips/advice?

There are so many located where I will be hunting Im not sure how much advice I will actually be able to use, but its welcome nonetheless, you never know when that info can be useful.

I would also like to handle all of the processing myself. Should be a pretty neat Thanksgiving!

Got a turkey choke for your shotgun? If not get one. Also get yourself a tom call and start practicing now. Turkey's see in color so full camo is advised. That's about all I know about the subject but I hope it helps.

I think one of the aspects that is often overlooked is the locating.

Find out where they hand out to determine where you'll hide.

The night before walk the woods doing some owl sounds. The turkeys that are up in the trees for the night will reply. Before light you hide in that area.

i guess it's different around here...

they were extinct and had to be reintroduced. Population is rising, but still their aren't that many.

Last time I was up there, there were literally like 25 of them just pecking around the corn crib. When I was deer hunting I must have seen over 50. Just tons of them. In the fall we can shoot either sex, so really I just need to see one patch of them and shoot. At least I hope?

I have been working on my oil pan gasket for a couple hours. As you can see, Im filthy and I even have streams of oil running through my hair. I was degreasing a few of the parts and I noticed a couple out of the corner of my eye, so I grabbed the 12ga and used the truck for cover to sneak over to another out building.

Once I got there I saw a couple more. Took aim and there you have it.

Registered it. Plucked it. Washed it all off. Wrapped it up and put it in the freezer.

My dad was able to walk out and get one almost right afterward. These turkeys had literally no fear of death, lol.
