I would like to keep one in my truck that doesn't take up a lot of room, something like this

What do you want it for? What kind of fishing?

Multi piece and retractable poles lose a lot of strength. If you just want to be able to drop a hook/jig/bobber set up, then get a medium or medium heavy ice rod with some 10# braid. Then keep some mono to tie on as a leader. The braid will last for years even if its been fished with and the mono will allow you to still catch the skiddish fish.

Also, get a half dozen tungsten jigs. They sink like a rock and you can just toss on a bit of corn or whatever and panfish will eat it, especially sunfish, they eat everything.
