I am going to make an honest attempt to go out hunting this year. We have lots of action on our own land and a buddy has hunting land a few minutes away where they do (legal) baiting, etc. so it is a lot easier to harvest an animal.
Friends of ours *only* eat venison they have killed the previous Fall and frozen -- really cool and very self sufficient. Don't think we can get there this year but it is a nice stretch goal for the future.

I just found out that a local rod and gun club has access to the farmland down the street from me.
Gonna find out what it takes to join since the public land I hunt is about an hour away.

Didnt get to take a shot last year. I had two nice ones coming in but by the time they got into range there were houses beyond them. The light kept fading at that was that. This year I will use my ice shack and position it better. I will have a full 180 view. Cant wait.

Gonna find out what it takes to join since the public land I hunt is about an hour away.
that's the one thing I hated about hunting down in Reading, everything was state game lands, it was literally like a war zone, there were several times I hit the deck trying to dig myself into a hole, it's why I stopped hunting down there, one area you walk up the side of the mountain on a logging trail, I was done so I popped out of the woods and starting walking off the mountain, some guy was walking down as well so I walked with him chatting, there was a stand of pines along the trail and all of sudden we heard some movement, he lifted his shotgun and started firing, i was like dude, wtf, that could be a hunter in the trees, never went back
