In MI this year, in my specific area, you could apply for early season anterless doe permits in a lottery. Both my wife and I applied and we both got tags. This will be interesting to see how much I hunt with a newborn around.

Yes, very soon. I need to get my treehouse/deer stand ready and put some old carrots out. I am going to pick up some hot rounds for my 357 lever gun -- within 150 yards it should be able to take a deer easily and most of my shots will probably be around 75 yards or less.

I set out my trail camera in a spot I was hping to hunt but didnt see anything. I bought a crossbow the other day and I'm gonna use that for bow season and then my 30.06 for rifle. I still dont have a solid spot to hunt. I actually think I'm gonna hunt at the giant house that we went and looked at since its unoccupied and there arent any no hunting signs on the land. Its illegal to bait within 3 weeks of hunting season and during hunting season but it says you can if you own the property. I think I might risk laying down some deer corn since I bought a bag before hearing that it was too late.

I found a pretty sweet spot yesterday. Nice little clearing lined with trees dropping acorns, about 80 yards from a creek. I like hunting near creeks cuz the babbling from the water running down the rocks can drown out some of the sounds of me moving. Its on conservation land next to an empty house thats for sale. Pretty stoked about it. Set up my game camera and I'll pick it up in a few days.
