How to deal with animal encounters in the wild | The Woodsman Hut | Forums

Lemme get this straight, I'm alone in the wilderness, I'm carrying bear spray aka extra large and super potent pepper spray, I get attacked by a cougar, I'm supposed to flail my arms like an injured prey animal, then fight empty handed and get torn to shreds so I can save the bear spray not just for bears, but for only 1 particular kind of bear? And then when I encounter that particular kind of bear, I'm supposed to drop my cell phone so I can't call for help once I've been mauled and am laying there half dying?

Then there's the grizzly attack. First I climb 12 feet up a tree to get away from a 10 foot bear with 3 foot arms. Then when it attacks, I voluntarily climb down out of the tree and lay down with my hands over my neck in the hope that the grizzly won't beat me up with his ASP before handcuffing me and dragging me away to grizzy jail?
