Now when you're selecting which hiking partner to eat, do you pick the fat guy because he'll provide the most meat, or do you pick the small guy so it's less to carry?? Purely hypothetical of course.
Physical size would be less important than quality. I would think you would want the leanest person with the best muscle tone. Their meat will be leaner and less flavorful, but you can harvest what fat they do have and use that sparingly for flavor. Fat cells store remnants of what has been eaten. Fat from the lean person should be healthier than fat from the obese person. Remember, there are good fats and bad fats. The leaner person should have more of the good fats. Meat has 4 calories while fat has 9, so you will want to harvest and consume some fat, but fat is a fast burn energy source while meat is a slow burn source. You need both, but you need slow burn meat energy more. The fat you consume should be good fat not bad. The good fat gives you energy while the bad fat can make you sluggish and lethargic. Also the bad fat may store processed sugars which will also make you sluggish and lethargic after the brief sugar rush. (Speaking from my vast sums of personal experience of course.)
