Well my first deer hunt was a success, and I took the two kills to the butcher. He charges $70 per deer, which around here is very fair. But I was thinking it would be great to learn how to process my own deer. Now I'm not gonna lie, I had a hard enough time gutting the damn things. I'm looking for good resources on learning these skills? I checked online for local butchering classes without much success. Hoping the folks on here can steer me in the right direction.

Thanks

I might be able to help, provided we get another deer this season lol! My mom does a pretty good job when she wants to so if we get another I'll do a thread and video on it for you.

I got this book. It's a pretty good guide although I admit I haven't tried it myself yet.

It's called Gut it Clean it Cook it. You can find it on amazon.

OK LB, at great personal discomfort to myself (I discovered today that I am allergic to deer hair) I processed two deer today and documented both. I will post the thread pics tomorrow evening, as I've been skinning and cutting deer meat for seven hours today and to be honest, I just don't feel like doing it right now lol! I also took video of one, so once I get around to editing that I will get that posted too.

First off, you're the man! Thanks... sorry to hear you're allergic to deer hair though, LOL. I look forward to your vids. Thanks brother.

I actually think there would be benefit to having a thread like this for a variety of animals. I would be interested in how to clean a chicken, which I've never done before. Fish, pigs, whatever.......I think there is benefit to having all of this information discussed.
