We tried that at a scout campout a number of years ago.  We couldn't get it to work.  It's not as easy as it looks.

Unfortunately, we don't get into it as much as I would like.  That year, we tried that, and I think that was mostly it.  Last year, I taught the boys how to make a birds nest out of twine.  We then used ferrocium rods to try to ignite it.  We also played around with 9v batteries and steel wool, magnifying glasses and then I did a demo with potassium pomegranate and glycerynn.  I've also done demos with bow drill.  This is all at the cub scout level.

That is a bit hilarious. Your in the woods without a fire kit but you have a can and chocolate.  Also it is a big waste of chocolate!
