We live a 'stone's throw' from a segment of this trail. Have only walked a few hundred yards on it and that is about the extent of our ambition for hiking it. Plus the part near us was ravaged by fire a couple years ago so not as attractive. Talking to an old timer who is a hiker and used to guide horseback trips into the wilderness areas, he said he has noticed a change in the hikers in the last few years. He said that it seem they are more focused on 'doing the trail' than enjoying the scenery as they walk along. Sad to take the time and effort to be in such a unique part of the planet and not 'drink it up'. Happily we get to look at it every day -
My personal motto - The Home, a peace worth fighting for.
