Nope.  🙁  I've come across a LOT of scouts (actually the majority) that don't know their knots.  Same with fire building.  I've seen a fair amount of scouts trying to stoke a fire by adding material (kindling and tinder) to the top of the fire.  It's like they do enough to learn what they need to learn to make rank, and then forget it.

That's an interesting question.  I suspect he'll stick with it unless something bad happens (ie bullying, etc.).  He seems to like it, and outside of books and videogames, he doesn't have any other interests.  The big obstacle is laziness, lack of motivation and work ethic.  Nothing seems to "drive" him.  So even if he sticks with it, there's always the possibility he won't make Eagle.

On a side note, the Troop we've joined isn't the best troop.  There's a fair amount of drama, etc.  It got to the point where I was ready to pull him out of this troop and make him join a different one.  In talking to him, I said, "Most scouts make first class their first year, and you're not even Tenderfoot yet.  I think the Troop you picked isn't that good, and it may come to the point we need to look for a new troop."  Now when I was telling him this, I was really saying "this troop sucks, and we're finding you a new one".  His response?  "I hope it doesn't come to that because I like this troop."  FML  So now we're just trying to make it work.

Not too much.  There is a troop that's affiliated with the pack we came from that he has a friend or two in.  I wasn't too fond of that troop, and was glad when it wasn't really on his radar to join.

Oh, no I def. see that.  It's funny we've bought several houses in our lives and it's always gone badly with the real estate agents either during or after the fact.  After the second or third time of this happening, I said to my wife, "I don't think it's them, I think it's us."
