what issues did you have?
It varied. The first agent left after settlement w/o so much as saying bye to us. lol We had another agent, where we were looking at a house and the owner said he was thinking of pulling it from the market because his agent wasn't doing much. Our agent proceeded to tell the seller how nice the house was and if he were the listing agent, he could have sold it in a weekend. Not in our best interest imo. Just stuff like that.
As far as Scout troops go, I look at them as an adult with a critical eye. Hindsight being 20/20, I do think I'm overly critical, especially of the boys. As I said, the knot tying and fire making issues seem to be rampant, and I think I expect too much. But there are definite problems in my son's troop. There will be a change in leadership after the 1st of the year, but not entirely sure it's for the better. Only time will tell. Scout troops are supposed to be "boy led, boy run" and there's a huge amount of opinions (from parents within the troop) as to how that's implemented and how much/how little power the boys should have.
you'll like this ET
my brother and I were talking about this the other night, when he was a troop leader they held a training class for building shelters in inclement weather one year. So him and 3 other troop leaders drove 2 hours to NY and when they got there they were told the class was cancelled because of
A blizzard
My brother said that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard, this is what the class is for.
So he went and grabbed his pup tent to set it up and realized he had left the poles for it laying on the living room floor.
So he grabbed a tarp and threw it over a picnic table and slept under it.
Said he got nothing but strange looks from the people holding the training but it was the warmest he has ever been sleeping in the snow, said he had to open the ends because it got so warm.

Kind of a funny story with me. Several years ago, I was a fresh cub scout den leader. We were planning our "winter Camping trip" which is usually around the beginning of march. We were doing it at a Girl Scout camp very local to us, and the plan was to have 40 or so people (boys and parents) sleeping on the floor of this cabin. It would have been nut to butt. Well a week out, they're calling for miserable weather (torrential rain and temps in the high 30's or so). So we're discussing via email what to do.
Now a little background. I was new to scout leadership and I had a LOT of ideas. I was fresh, full of energy and a desire to "make it better". One of my initiatives was to get the Pack's Facebook page fully active. At the time, it wasn't being used much, and I thought it was a great tool to communicate and recruit and made a full push for us to start utilizing it.
So anyway, with the weather, we decide to cancel the trip, figuring that everyone would be miserable, there wasn't space in the cabin for programming, etc. Well one of the parent's from my den posted on Facebook "Canceled??? What is this the Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts?" The Cubmaster (who was new as well) flipped his ******ing mind. He wasn't familiar with Facebook and was outraged that people could post "anything" with no oversight. He had fears about people posting libelous statements, etc. We changed the Facebook settings, but it really put a damper on things.
