I'm getting my first smartphone later this week and the first apps I plan on getting are edible plant and tree ID apps.  We used to carry around the ID pamphlets when we hiked as kids.  I know my trees, but really don't have a clue about wildflowers and edible plants besides the obvious ones.

they had a pretty sweet one for IOS a couple years ago, you took a picture of the plant and it identified it, wonder if they ever made a droid version

My kids and I are going to start geocaching in the spring and I wanted to have some of thes apps because my 8 year old daughter is a budding naturalist.  My 3 and 4 year old sons will probably just take their nerf swords and battleax and hunt for zombies.l
