Baking bread from scratch can be intimidating for people just starting out learning how to cook. How much yeast do you need, how long should you let it rise and what recipe to use are just several questions that a novice baker has. Below is a simple bread recipe that we use for rolls, pizza dough and bread that is pretty much fool-proof. It only has two ingredients in a 1:1 ratio; self rising flour and Greek yogurt.
Gather your supplies
Dump container of yogurt into mixing bowl
Fill yogurt container with flour
Mix flour into yogurt
Keep dusting with flour and work the dough by hand
Flour up a cutting board and dump the dough out
Cut the dough in half and then into quarters
Grease a pan and put the half section into it
Freeze the quarters for making pizza another day
Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes or golden brown
That’s all there is to making this simple bread recipe. It’s a thick bread with a slight sour taste due to the yogurt but we love it. Like I said previously it works great for pizza dough. If you really want to work on being more self-sufficient then a natural progression would be to make your own Greek yogurt which is just as simple. Have fun in the kitchen!
