Hope you all don't mind me resurrecting this thread. I've been doing research on wood stoves as we hope to get one in before this winter hits. I have heard a lot of great things about Blaze King stoves but they are certainly not the cheapest.... however, I am having a hard time finding out if there is another manufacturer that can rival its efficiency - supposedly you can load one up in the morning and it'll heat about 2000 sq ft for the whole day, then just load it up again for warmth all night. We sure would love to find something with that kind of potential without it costing thousands of dollars... recommendations?
Some friends have ashley cabinet heaters at their camps, they do a good job cranking out the heat, they are not the prettiest things but you can usually find them on CL for 300-500 dollars. I just did a quick search here in Maine.

Biggest thing to look for is to make sure the chamber isn't cracked and the seal on the door is good.
Sadly the newer models are not as good due to EPA regulations
what model blaze king are you looking at?

Haha, I had that same trouble. I had to search through a couple forum threads from other sites to find an idea. I'm finding a range between $2500 and $3000 for the model we're looking into. We're going to go ahead and call a local dealer we found today to see how much they're retailing them for. Hopefully they won't require us to come in to their "show room" to find out. 🙂

Well we called around some and found a dealer the next town over who has a Blaze King Ashford 30 he has had for awhile that he'll sell us for $2500 tax included. The Ashford has a two-inch smaller firebox than the princess and puts out only a tad less heat but is cast iron and much more attractive with all the same usual Blaze King perks -- therefore they usually go for around $3300 or more. Since the price he's offering beats what you found and what we've typically found on the Princess we went ahead and committed to buy - pretty darn excited about it. Going to have a helluva time transporting it though! Can't wait to get it installed and cook a cast-iron pot of chili on the first cold day.
