never thought drugs being part of the reason

Hutchison says a lot of rustling is related to illegal drug use; Kansas and Nebraska investigators said the same.

"Because the price is so high, some of these think: 'If I can get four or five head, I can stay high for a long time,'" he said.

And rustling almost always involves people with an agriculture background.

we actually have seen about a 20 percent price drop on the wholesale side the last couple weeks, hopefully it continues and gets passed onto the retail side

I think that, decreased demand due to prices and increase in herd levels, when the economy crashed back in 2008 a lot of ranchers slaughtered their herds because they couldn't afford the feed, as those prices have dropped they have started increasing their herd sizes, but it takes 2-3 years to get a steer to slaughter weight

Was there any change in price a few years ago when the midwest had that nasty drought and a lot of corn crops failed?
