Alright. Couldn't get a fair price on the insulation so I took a swing at doing it myself. Not a job to do in the winter. You need lots of ventilation and I had none due to the temperature. The warmer the tanks are, the better the coverage you get. I did not get very much. However, it passed code!

Then I put up landscaping fabric, bought 10 bags of expanding fiberglass, and got to work on the walls and filling the remainder on the ceiling:

And while they work on the drywall inside, I started putting up the siding. You'll note that I used 1x6 for the corner on this side so that I could get two pieces out of a 12' piece of siding. Looks a little funky but I had very little scrap. Itty bitty window.

One thing to look out for with spray foam and foam sheathing: bowing. Fortunately I felt this before I started putting on siding and was able to cut out a patch, plane it, and cover it up. However, the spray foam expands in the direction of least resistance and in this case, it was outwards:

Picked it up at a local depot for $750. Gave me 400 board feet. Just shy of what I needed but the inspector didn't say anything.

I've had to hire out the drywall and the interior for time. Unfortunately, it's going to destroy my budget but my CFO is telling me to finish the project.

Hooray! Siding is done. Now on to caulking and painting. Inside guys finished up the tiling and the taping. Tomorrow they'll shoot texture (very lightly to match the rest of the house).

I can genuinely say that I understand why hardieplank sucks on gable end walls. Especially super low pitch ones such as my own. Lots of really long rips. Came out acceptably. Not great, but not horrible either.
