where did you score the rail road tie from?

A friend got it for me. He has family that works in that line of business.

The entire thing ended up costing my around $40-60 bucks. I'm not complaining.

I took it off yesterday and had a whisper of ashes. Not much at all. I may end up using that as a flow control if it doesn't get very many ashes.

how easy is it to control the heat and airflow with that blower? Does it have a rheostat switch?

Not yet. That is part of my end plan. Right now I control the airflow by choking off the intake.
