I have mostly used a power hammer so my experiences are more one sided.
Both have advantages and disadvantages. If I am making the machine then certainly a power hammer, although the press is basically a jack.
If I was going to be serious about blades, it would be my first shop purchase.
Only thing I still need to replace is my anvil since moving. Had a 75 pd thinking of going with a 120 and a 80.

Since you have a dwelling in the shop as well not sure insurance would like it happening in or on the outside of the building.
Myself it would be inside since I dislike the cold, although if the shop will be doing lots of different projects metal is probably the easiest to do in the elements to save the space inside.
I posted these on another thread but figured they should be here as well

DC knives is a cool site been using it for years, donated a few templates there also.
Well, shop is built. Started re-buying trade specific tools.
Main three things to do still is buy a anvil, build a power hammer and also build a 2x72 belt grinder.
Should I post crap here as I go or start a new thread? Right now I have some templates I have made and some other basic stuff that always has to be done building a metal working space.
