Thank you...to many folks it's not much...to us it is everything...it is a blessing to us...has a little bit of everything and more projects than I will ever get too.  The big plus for us is that it is paid for.  Looking forward to getting house up next year and selling our current home once we move in to the new place.  Having two places is a pain...only a 25 minute drive, but it adds up.

Getting final things together for this Wed...the Big ZBA meeting for my variance to build a house smaller than 1,500 sq ft...wish you could be there...when I get home around 9pm that night I will try to post the outcome...normally the deliberate and make a decision right there...I am 90% sure we will sail through it...As Yogi said---it ain't over til it's over--

...A lot of people told us...just make the house bigger...the prevailing mind set out there causes me concern on so many things...then again I am the crazy guy that stores water 'just in case'...such radical behavior...lol.

...you are all welcome to come to the meeting of the ZBA if you like...might be a drive though...I can put you up for the night and offer you some food and home made wine.  LaughLaugh

Don't worry, people still think I'm crazy, I'm cool with that. The rumors going around town when we were building our house were pretty humorous. Good luck at the meeting.

KVR...curious about some of the rumors?  I'd appreciate if you would share a few.

let's see, we were building a doomsday bunker, we were starting a marijuana grow up, that's why the house is situated the way it is so no-one can see it, stuff like that.

Okay...well, tonight is my ZBA meeting for a variance to build a smaller than minimum code home.

I have my papers and presentation together and just need to organize it a bit better.

...Not so sure how this is going to go...I have heard a rumor that there are strong feelings for and against this.

This is a Huge Deal for the Town since I am the first one to challenge this. What happens tonight will set a precedent for all that come after me.

Obviously there are a lot of issues wrapped up in what I am doing.  One of the big ones' is how this impacts land use.  You see I am zoned Agricultural and a single family residential is fine if I was building bigger.  But the concern is over changing the fabric of the Ag Land in the area...what the heck...to me it's about being able to do something reasonable and productive with your land...hey you want a house or a pig farm there???

There is a rumor one of the big Farms here is against setting a precedent here along with the a local Town Politician that doesn't care for me or what I am trying to do...I expect a fight if they show up...although it will damage them within the Town.

On my side, a respected neighbor, our architect and a good friend and huge Farm owner are coming tonight for my side.

I know the ZBA folks are practical and that they new this day would come regarding a challenge of this code. The ZBA is a stand alone group and their decision is final.

Obviously I want the variance.  According to the charter this should all be based on the merits of my 'application' and I believe I meet all of them.  To me this should be what the case is about.  If there are some stinkers there I agree they have a right to have their say within reason and hopefully in a civil and fact based manner; however, this should be judged on the criteria of the ZBA and the merit of my application.  I am a bit concerned about the potential influence some may have tonight, provided they show up.

Just going to be honest and thorough, respectful and polite, speak when spoken to (speak softly and carry a big stick...hmmm)

This will be interesting.  At this time I believe that things will be done according to Hoyle and that common sense and good will prevail.

Not so sure I like being 'first' at something like this...I know I don't.

...time to take some Tums though.

If you have it in your hearts ... send me good energy.

I will let you know how it goes.
