Farm Boy, K....There is a couple here that built 36*64 poured wall earth berm with framing/sheet rock on inside (no rigid insulation anywhere, didn't have it 35 years ago when they built. Here in the summer they just use a small/medium window AC unit to take out the humidity. They set it on low or medium and turn on the ceiling fans and it works very well.
I think that is why I am leaning towards a couple of infrared heaters and a small window AC unit for now...it's inexpensive...and I only have to plug them in...the higher priced stuff will have to wait and will depend on how well this plan works out.

being in Maine and earth bermed, do you use a/c in the summer?
no, the only one that complains is my daughter, there is only about a week or two in august where it gets in the 90's and the house gets really warm, now when I say warm if it's 90 plus outside it's 78 - 80 inside.
