Going well, some beams and some roof members on. The new baby girl, Audrey, was born on 10/5, so progress on some other projects has slowed down. It took 2 other guys to get the beams up -- I am very surprised an injury or death did not occur.

Congrats Pork, looks like it is progressing nicely. Also, congrats on the new addition to the family.

Thanks guys. The little girl is beautiful and the labor, so says my wife, was quick and easy. We actually left the hospital the same day.

I added on 2 more roof members and am borrowing a pressure washer tomorrow night to try and get rid of the mold/discoloration on the logs. Then I am on to staining. I am thinking of going with steel but have seen pictures with clear poly panels that looks pretty cool and lets in natural light. Thoughts?

I would go with the clear poly, it looks like there aren't trees around there that could shed limbs to break it, plus you could use some plastic and enclose the sides in the spring and use it for a greenhouse! Bonus!

It faces the wrong direction to be a greenhouse, unfortunately, but it works well where it is located near the house.

On a different note, if you build a similar structure, wrap the structure in black plastic but leave an airgap at the top and the bottom, supposedly you can dry out freshly cut oak, or other woods, to a burnable state in less than 3 months vs. a year +. Supposedly the heat pulls the moisture out and it escapes through the top. FWIW.

I saw a article in MEN years ago on how to quick dry firewood, they said to shrink wrap it on a pallet and leave a opening on top for ventilation, the plastic acts as a greenhouse and the hole on top allows the vapor to escape, so what you are saying makes sense to me
