Thanks for all of the compliments, guys. K -- didn't plan to. I think it would add strength but also a) cost money and b) make it harder to load with wood. I started stacking my dry wood at the very front of the woodshed and we are using it now. My plan is when I cut down a dead standing oak to stack that wood at the back so it has some time to dry out before we use it. I have a ton of dead standing oak and I have 5 to 6 guys coming out in November to help me cut it all up. We'll see if we can fill up the shed.

I think 4 or 5, not really sure. I had 2 cords delivered 2 years ago and then I added 1.5 cords before last winter. Then I bought a few ricks in February and March. So maybe 3, maybe 4 -- who knows. I say 5 to be on the safe side. Our cathedral roof that is located above the woodstove isn't insulated as well as it should be. I need to sit down and do the math to see how many cords the woodshed can hold. That way I know what I burn through this winter.

congrats on the little piggy!

Shed looks prety cool man, and jealous of all that oak you get to burn. Last time I had oak I was amazed at how slow it burned... stuff would literally last a couple days all damped down in my little cabin i lived in.

Hah, the oak takes so long to dry. It is a blessing and a curse. I have stuff from 2 years ago that I still think is too wet. I have 5 or 6 guys coming out next weekend to help me cut down some dead standing oaks. We'll see how dry those are. I am way behind on firewood and I am hoping with that many guys out here we can fill up my woodshed.

Yes, a propane ventless heater, 30k BTU. Works well. We put it on the lowest setting when we leave in the winter and it keeps the place ~ 50 degrees or so. We use it more so pipes don't freeze when we are gone and a quick way for my wife to warm up when she wakes up. I, however, hate using propane. I try to use it as little as possible.
