why do they keep doing this?

In her first month as Oregon's governor, Kate Brown has taken an action opposed by over 80,000 Oregonians: directing the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife (ODFW) to move forward with giving away the public's water to Nestlé.

The process Governor Brown is forwarding is not the exchange of water use, as previously expected. This is a new application to transfer the water right to Oxbow Springs permanently from the ODFW to Cascade Locks, which would then sell the spring water to Nestlé.

Not only does this new application result in the permanent loss of Oxbow Springs water, but it also excludes a public interest review.

I used to think Oregon was awesome...

I feel like she needs to have criminal charges brought up on her after reading this.

maybe I wasn't far off the mark, Can't find any campaign finance info for their race, did find this though

And Brown faced criticism in January following the release of a letter she sent to the FCC endorsing the Comcast-Time Warner merger, using language that had been borrowed from a lobbyist from Comcast, which has given her campaign contributions.

I doubt this is the last we'll here about this.

Several years ago Poland Springs (Nestle) was looking to open a bottling plant near a local spring and it didn't go to well with the local town folk

Yeah, it is a very poor town and the company came in and said how many jobs it would create and how much money the company would donate to different things for the town and they still voted them out
