all the hybrid varieties I have say they fruit at 3-4 years.  I hope that's true!

thinking about getting some of these wild life hybrids

Wildlife hybrids (Castanea hybrids) - Seedling trees of hybrid ancestry including Chinese, Seguin, and Allegheny chinkapin. Seed collected from highly selected, blight resistant, vigorous trees that are very productive and precocious with small nut size. The nuts have excellent flavor, but are generally too small for commercial production. Ultimate tree size is too small to compete in a closed-canopy forest. Great attractant for deer and game birds. Available as 1-yr bare-root stock
