I have a 'weed torch' for the farm...works great...I am just not allowed to take it out unless my wife is there to supervise...gee, you cook plot of flowers and your a criminal.

K...I gotta tell ya...when I saw this...all I could think about was how much fun it would be to clear the snow away with that rig.

I tried that once during a blizzard in 95 with a handheld one, didn't work so well, I was highly disappointed.

I got a small handheld one that Im going to try to use this spring.  One technique I want to try is called stale seedbedding.

What you do is a week or two before youre going to plant into a bed you tarp it over.  This should give a head start to the weed seeds in the bed and allow them to germinate.  Give it a week or so then remove the tarp and flame weed everything that's come up.  After that plant into the bed.  Between this and no-till, Im hoping to really cut down on my weed pressure this year.  I spent so much time and effort getting the orchard up last year, I neglected the annual garden in it kind of went to crap.  This year I'll make sure I pay it a little more attention and try to get more out of it.
