I will no doubt have workshop envy shortly. We had been borrowing some space from a guy for a job that required some fabrication and it was amazingly awesome to have a sweet workshop to work out of. No space at our current place but I dream of a workshop on our property one day.
how's the new career choice going KE?
so this is what I am thinking, remove our original coop and the gate we installed, build workshop between the old cedar fence on the left, and the new one we built on the right this past summer, have large sliding barn doors on the front and the back, that way I can still drive through it and get back to the barn
thoughts?

Definitely have sliding doors on both ends to drive thru. Should be a good spot.

Same as everything else ... have you narrowed down your needs for the shop? Metal, painting, wood, storage?
Some really basic tech you can do at the start for things like keeping air lines dry and compressors which drain automatically are a big help.
If just for more storage, put everything on castors. Building a paper cut out template works great for making sure your allowing enough space for each tools safe usage area.
Being in your region I would guess ventilation and heating are the two big things?
Building a shop is such a exciting time.
