I love looking at these older structures

A short film about the Scotch-Irish and German settlers of Appalachia and the unique structures that they built. Narrated by author Katie Letcher Lyle.

Years ago I was taking the kids up to Tucker County to Camp Horseshoe, and I remember going past these interesting stone, almost beehive structures that looked incredibly old, but I can't for the life of me find them on the internet. They almost looked like ovens, but they were large enough to stand inside. I found some that look somewhat like them, but the ones I saw seemed more pointy at the top. This is kind of what they looked like. I just found them so interesting....

Look like huge ovens or small huts made from what they had available. Cool find
