So it's been several months, are you and the wife happy with the move?

Very happy. It's funny -- this place is so similar to our cabin in some ways. We can heat with wood, there is plenty of room to spread out, we have a dirt driveway to maintain, etc. But everything is easier -- the wood boiler lasts longer when filled up, the driveway is easier to maintain then the last house, etc. We also found a great floating dock nearby for fishing -- something that was near the last house.

We have also started selling some of the thousands of pine trees the previous owner planted -- our first income from any of the land we have owned!

When this forum takes off, you retire a millionaire, and grace some of us early birds with retirement packages. Our electrical bill is ~$115 a month... solar would be expensive to set up and isn't really worth it to me.

lol, will do

Honestly that has been a discussion my wife and I have been having, our electric bill is only like $80 a month, well before my Dad started siphoning off any ways

I don't think it makes much financial sense for us to do solar. We would spend just as much on the solar as we would on electricity for the next 20 years. I like solar, I would do solar, if money was not as much of an issue.
