Awesome, Spotted!
Im seriously putting a lot more effort in to building a business in permaculture. I want to teach people how easy and beneficial it is grow your own food in your backyard using permaculture principles. I have ideas on hosting seminars on my property, getting consultant/design jobs from that. Maybe a small nursery of plants adapted for my climate/region which can be offered to clients. Possibly forming a CSA from within my client base for the surplus. I might even try a small stand at the new farmer's market we're opening at work. I figure you have to have as many revenue streams as possible in something like this so Ive been really focused on getting different ideas and making multiple connections (a permaculture principle)
For this season, Im going to be focused on getting my property in shape to show different design concepts at work. The one thing I know is it has to look right or your clients wont trust you. I think that from a prospective client's point of view, it needs to be low maintenance, visually appealing and productive. I have a lot of cleaning up to do after the weather beating my area has taken over the last two years.
That is awesome groin. Out reach is so important and theore people learn to grow their own food the sooner things will begin to change. I totally agree with you about having things look professional and attractive. There are some times when first impressions really count

Thanks, Spotted! Im going to meet with an accountant to discuss setting up the business. Im thinking maybe meet with a lawyer also, especially since I plan on hosting people at my place for this.
will be interesting to hear what their recommendations are, I can't imagine there being a huge liability that you would need to be protected under a corporate umbrella, but you never know in today's world

People are sue crazy. In WV there is. Pretty high level of state protection for equine professionals. It can be dangerous and if you display an official sign offered by the state Nd have people sign a release you are fairly safe. Whenever I trim a horse for the first time I do a written evaluation, written recommendations and a hold harmless statement. The owners have to sign or I won't go back
