We both have decent jobs and educations...always been savers... for this 'last' home no mortgage and to pay for it from savings.

Some people around town know what we are doing and think we are rich...no...we are disciplined and this is a passion of ours.  We drive older cars and don't really take vacations (I still owe my wife a trip of some kind for our honeymoon, been a few years now)...we put that money to the farm and the build.  All about priorities.

I had to smile when I read this Gravel - sounds so familiar! Thrifty living has always been just a 'smart' thing to do for us and figuring out that if one takes care of what you have, it lasts longer thus putting off replacement costs as long as possible. At our last place one of the 'newbies' trying to do what they considered country life did ask us if we were rich! Yea, rich people build their own house, fences, sew curtains, wear old jeans and cook and eat at home, seldom going out to eat. It astonished us how those folks could drop everything and drive to town (30 miles!) for a part that they needed but hadn't bought because they didn't think the task all the way thru. (and for a pizza too!)

Priorities is right!

My personal motto - The Home, a peace worth fighting for.

Don't judge me. 😉  And if it weren't for people like that (and me) KVRs diner would probably go under. lol

this is me pretty much, We don't have a lot of money, we just don't have any debt which allows us to buy something when we need it, most people don't understand that concept

I doubt that a diner will go under in today's world - too many people seem to be unable/unwilling to cook for themselves! (which astonishes me who has been cooking from 'scratch' for all my life and it ain't a difficult chore either) I would LOVE to have a place to eat out that 1) doesn't off the same 'standard' (boring!) menu that I can easily make at home, 2) doesn't make 'plastic copies' of ethnic foods and 3) doesn't charge high prices for low quality food.

I'm assuming that KVR's offerings are tasty and reasonable or his doors would have been long since closed. If I were younger, I might even give a shot at such a place myself. Heaven knows this area could use such a restaurant!

Easy....if the pizza is really good, might be worth the drive.

There is a place about an hour away from us that makes pizza in a coal fired oven, it is something awesome to have...when we are over that way we always stop for lunch.
