So this winter has been very challenging to say the least. We are 2/3s through though. once again we have had unusually cold temps. for extended periods of time.
With just my little car, getting around has been hard, but I found a truck that i'm going to buy which will make a huge difference.
I think I'm going to host WWOOFers again this summer. I have a few ideas of things I'd like to do. First will be to put up fencing around the hay meadow. That will give me 11 more acres of fall and winter grazing and really cut down on the amount of hay I have to feed in the winter. It will also bring the horses closet to the house so that when I have to walk to feed it isn't so far, although I really do enjoy the walks, mostly.
My sister is going to start building and that is exciting. We decided that instead of a whole separate house, she will add onto mine. it will allow us to have some money for other projects.
come on spring!

Good things are afoot.
my new neighbors have turned out to be awesome folk.
The "boys" are all mechanics. And machinists.
They pulled the tractor and baler doe out of the hay meadow yesterday. They are 100% sure they can repair and refurbish all of the equipment.
We will then share it. Making hay again looks like a real possibility.
it is so great to have neighbors that have the same goals as I do!
during the last big snow, my electric went off...no big deal. But my cell tower went down and I was out of touch with the modern world, car snowed in
and here come the "boys" walking up the driveway. The asked me if I was ok, if I needed anything. They brought their chain saw and cut wood for me.
I am so grateful!
