pork, found something to keep an eye out for

so last night when cleaning out the smokehouse the tractor started dying every time you gave it gas, idle was fine, hydraulics was good.

Same thing this morning, so we swapped out the fuel filter at the engine, still the same was happening, newsettler noticed a diaphragm on the engine block that was engaging every time I hit the gas

so I called the dealer and talked to the service manager, told him what was happening, he said to lift the seat and check the kill switch, what kill switch? It's designed so that if you get off the seat you don't run over yourself

Oh you mean the kill switch that was disengaged and was wire nutted together?

he said are you serious? that should have never left the shop like that. Yes I am serious, I haven't touched it. So he said that the previous owner must have disconnected it to bypass or the switch was bad, he said to throw a tester on it, once engaged it should be an open circuit, if it is not to let him know and he will send me a new one. So we tested it and the switch was fine, but newsettler noticed some wires that were frayed below the nut which probably happened with me lifting the seat when it rains and crimping it when I get on. So we fixed the fray and reconnected the switch, runs perfect now.

newsettler says I should have them send me a new wiring harness at least

KVR said
just texted Jeremy who built our processor, he says as long as fuel filters are used and the bio-diesel is demethed it will be fine, methanol is the real issue

just talked to Carl who I buy my hay from, he is also a diesel mechanic, he is telling me not to do it, crap

Thanks for the heads up on the seat sensor, mine is good. Do you spend much on diesel? I only go through about 5 gallons a month. It's not worth the hassle of biodiesel, to me.

FYI, here are some recent developments.

Not directly tractor related, although a tractor did hay our field. I plan to fence in for animals next Spring so this might be the last time it is done.

I picked up a tree spade for $500 (they sell for a lot more usually) that should help me remove some of the 5,000 pine trees the PO planted. I made $400 last spring making other people dig them out -- hopefully I can make more if I dig them for the buyers.

It is getting darker earlier here. I was out mowing out at 8:30 PM last night and I needed the lights on. I ordered 4 of these LED lights to put on the ROPS (2 front, 2 back). From what I have seen these will make it seem like daylight. Should help in the winter. Our BX's have wiring at the left taillight all set up for this sort of thing, so install shouldn't be too bad. I will get around to that sometime in the next week or two.

about 10-12 gallons a month, going to just use the bio in our furnaces

I like that tree spade, you just a sledge to drive it?

Yes, it came with it's own sledge, not pictured. The ground where all of the trees are planted is very sandy and loamy -- I can't imagine it will be hard to drive these (famous last words).
