I tossed some 10-10-10 in the bottom and then filled it with some wet leaves to about 1/3 of its capacity,then tossed some more 10-10-10. I have a ton of it so I figured why not. There will be leaves and kitchen waste (minus meat) going in there. Anyhow its built and started off and now we wait.

I hope Khun will post his fert mix that he uses...its so organic its offensive, lol...

That is about 6' wide and 2-3' deep for reference. I noticed it looks small in pics.

No question I will have to make it larger in the future......

Nice JayWill. I wish we didn't have a glass top range, I've read that the all american canners are not recommended for them.

Ive got a glass top too, but ive also got a cast iron propane burner that i'll use.

i never thought about testing the valve , i guess its trial by fire(or explosion). its the 21 qt. model which i thought would be bigger, so i think i may have to go supersized with the 40 next time .

they suggest getting them tested yearly at the cooperative extension or at the states dept of weights and measure, I don't know what would be comparable in canada
