Yesterday we received and planted our three blueberry bushes, 25 strawberry plants and 6 blackberry bushes. In retrospect, should have gone with thornless blackberries. my fingers and hands would have thanked me.

We worked out butts off today. Pulled about a dozen fence posts, shoveled a trailer of manure, started building a pallet fence, cleaned the chicken house, built more on the fence, shoveled a truck of dirt to pack bags, sifted the dirt! An dinner was chicken wrapped with ramps and bacon, baked potato and yard salad.

Got contender bush beans, sugar baby and congo watermelons, beefsteak, bradley, roma, and cherry tomatoes planted this weekend. The only thing I have left to get in the ground are my peppers: Jalapenos, hungarian wax, bells, and banana peppers, okra, and my cucumbers. Should get that stuff in next weekend and it'll be time to tend it and watch it all grow.

Also talked to a guy who builds chicken tractors locally, think I'm gonna get him to start on one for me this week. 32 sq ft. tractor ready for chickens is $300 bucks. With the limited time I have to do things around the house I think it's a pretty good deal. A lot better than some of others I've seen selling coops and tractors. Planning on stocking it with 5-6 buff orpington pullets.

Yes and no. I coached a kid in flag football last year whose parents have a mini farm and raise chickens, rabbits, and goats. I saw the mom the other day and mentioned getting some chickens, and she said she had some recently hatched chicks, which is normally how she sells them, but she would hold a some for me until I get ready.

I finally got my deer fence started. Rented an auger and drilled all the post holes and I set 4 10ft 4x4s.

I should be able to have the whole thing finished by the coming weekend and then move some of the stuff from the greenhouse into the ground on Saturday or Sunday.
